Define Your Terms – Are you “PM Babbling”

WBS.  PM.  Deliverable.  Critical Path.  Scope statement.  We throw these terms around as if everyone understands what they mean.  For those who are new to Project Management, it sounds like we are speaking another language. When we do not define our terms, we risk miscommunication and that is an option no Project Manager can afford.

As Project Managers we must communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.  We must be able to translate “PM Speak” into easy to understand terms.  I almost said “Plain English”, but in our world of multiple languages and cultures, that would be presumptuous.
