Project Manager as Facilitator

Project Managers serve many roles.  One of those roles is facilitator.  A facilitator helps teams get “unstuck”.   As facilitator, a project manager must remain neutral while helping their team work through the issue(s).  In the facilitator role, the project manager needs to keep the team focused while making sure that everyone’s views are heard and understood.

While helping a team come to consensus is not always the quickest way to resolve issues, it is usually the most lasting resolution.  Facilitation is a skill that does not come naturally to many.  It requires practice.  I have listed some helpful resources below.
