For those who work in or with teams, this blog post from HBR offers some interesting insights and confirms understanding. Smaller teams that work together longer are generally more successful and productive. Building successful, productive teams is as much a function of interpersonal chemistry as it is fostering collaboration and providing flexible support and giving teams the tools and processes that will promote their success.

The HBR post also recognizes that face-to-face interaction is important and I agree. Unless members are well-acquainted with one another before the formation of a team, meeting face-to-face, at least at the onset is crucial.
KO, Face-to-face is the preferred method for teams, especially at the start of a project. Given the trend towards virtual teams, face-to-face is not always possible. Working together virtually requires teams to work harder to communicate and collaborate effectively. Thanks for your feedback. Margaret
